PRSA University Committee, UH-PRSSA and Fifth Ring are partnering for the second annual Mentor Mixer, an evening that brings college students and communications professionals together for candid career conversations, mentorship and practical job-market advice.

Whether you’re graduating this spring or have years of experience, your next opportunity depends on how you present your skills, experience and value.

The evening begins with a 15–20 minute talk from Trish Ruff-Cunningham, founder of Ruff Hires, who connects communications talent with Houston employers. She’ll share what hiring managers are looking for, how to demonstrate your value and how to interpret today’s job market.

Attendees will then break into small-group discussions led by experienced PR professionals, with topics including internships, job searching, career pivots and professional networking. Students will gain practical guidance and make meaningful connections, while professionals can share their experience and support the next generation of communicators.

Refreshments will be provided by Fifth Ring. The event is free for students and professionals.
